Farewell to Firm Founder Benjamin Smith

Benjamin Smith passed away August 11, 2022. He was one of the founders of the law firm in 1987, along with John Gendler and Doug Shiell. Ben was a recognized leader in property tax law and was the lead attorney in several court cases that established principles which are still controlling law today. But his preference was to use creative arguments to reach favorable settlements with assessors. He was actively involved in industry trade groups and was a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars. His driving force, competitive spirit and vision for the firm contributed significantly to its success.
